Sometimes, an album this good will come outta nowhere, just like that. I can't tell you how surprised I am by the attention to detail and the rhythmic intricacy Tyler Newbold puts into his tunes here. I'm thinking of Atlas Sound, Xiu Xiu, Aphex Twin (or anything on Warp Records, for that matter), and Toro Y Moi rolled into one. It's kinda blowing my mind. Don't take my word for it, though -- you can listen to the whole thing and download it for free at bandcamp if you click the artwork above.

This sounds soooo much like Animal Collective. How could you not mention that?

I actually did write a bit about Animal Collective. But it seemed too obvious, like, of course it's gonna sound like Animal Collective, you know? Everything does, nowadays. But it also sounds like all those other things. It takes some effort to ease off of that AC reference point while listening, but once you do, the experience is gratifying. I promise.

I agree with you but this sounds more like AC than most other things I've heard. This is almost alarmingly similar but it holds up well on its own and I think it was a good choice.

I'm a bit disappointed. I think this guy doesn't yet know where he wants to go. Also the songs don't touch me. In my opinion, it's a mediocre record.
