Elsiane - Hybrid (2007)

Her voice is odd. Their music is eclectic with a blend of electronic, jazz, trip-hop, and even some classical. They are a duo that hails from Canada. My friend and I get a Bjork feel sometimes. Check them out!

Four years in the making. This sounds just how I've always wanted it to sound.

Sun Araw

Information about Sun Araw and his projects is sparse. I feel some of this like the last notes of Person Pitch escaping from Earth and traveling through Space Forever.

Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra & Tra-La-La Band - 13 Blues for Thirteen Moons

If there was a nuclear apocalypse going on at this very moment this album would be it's soundtrack. It would blare over loudspeakers, boom over radios, and be on every television channel. I would dance along without a care in the world. In case you haven't noticed, I love this album in all of it's epicness.

Eric Copeland - Alien in a Garbage Dump (2008)

EDIT: If for some reason google or someone else brought you here, know that this is only half of the full-length that was released almost a year after I originally posted this. That album can be found HERE.

The Black Dice member's recent solo release sticks close to the formula he perfected on his previous full-length, Hermaphrodite. Who am I kidding, loolllz. Anyone who has heard Black Dice knows it's their lack of any conceivable structure that really keeps their unique brand of noise interesting. This feels like another evolution, just on schedule. Worth downloading for the last half of the title track (Stream it here) but the rest is pretty killer as well.

Storm And Stress x2

EDIT: THESE LINKS ARE DOWN. They'll probably never go back up, because Touch And Go Records is on top of things. Same goes for Don Cab links. Sorry.

However, if you're reading this, please don't give up hope. These are my two of my favorite records of all time, and I implore you to continue your search. You won't regret it. This message has been approved by Bradford Cox.

This band will more-than-satisfy you when you get tired of Ian Williams' other bands, Don Caballero and Battles. Ian locks his guitar in the basement and feeds it only yearning. He also sings to himself. The drums rumble freely and catastrophically but internally. Under Thunder also includes Eric Ehm, who played bass on the final Don Caballero album, American Don.

Deerhunter - On Platts Eyott Island (2008)

This recent and limited cassette release was recorded on September 15. It was meant as a tribute to John Peel, or something. Like, all the studio equipment was old, and stuff. Six of the seven tracks are reworked versions of existing Deerhunter songs, including Spring Hall Convert, Backspace Century, and four from Microcastle.

Vessels - White Fields and Open Devices (2008)

Since no adjective or metaphor is better at describing music than a comparison to another band, this is like the heavier side of Mogwai mixed with Battles. If it's safe to say that any new band today is copying things their forebears have done, and if it's also safe to say that the success of the new band is based on how well they actually execute these rehashed ideas, then Vessels is undoubtedly post-rock worth hearing.

The Specials - The Specials (1979)

The Specials are quite possibly the best ska band ever. Yeah, I said it. This is their first release, and a legendary ska masterpiece. It's upbeat and mellow. You can skank to it and you can chill to it. Every song is amazing. For real. If you have never downloaded anything I have put up here, do it now. You would be doing yourself a favor.
