ULTRAPOST

I have not posted for over a month. I am making up for this today.

A good amount of the following albums were discovered on MORAL ADVENTURE (link on the right). So I guess maybe that's cheating.

O Lucky Man! - When I Was Young I Would Type Your Name Just To See It In Front Of Me
Sounds like Hella and Cap'n Jazz. Listen HERE. (Note: That page lists the album as having 7 tracks. The actual album only has five of those.)

Chromatic Flights - Favorite Cat
Sounds like: Dntel; Passion Pit?; Animal Collective. Listen on
Myspace. Also, check out his other band, Blind Man's Colour.

Animal Collective - Stuart Marconie's Freak Zone (BBC Session)
Includes new track "What Would I Want Sky" and a cool version of "Lion in a Coma".

Eric Copeland - RGAG
A collection of leftovers from various sessions.

Pocahaunted - Gold Miner's Daughters
One of their best releases so far.

Super Minerals - Multitudes
Sounds like Barn Owl, Grails, Pocahaunted. This is a no-brainer. Get.

Teeth Mountain - s/t
Like those three bands I just named, except somehow upbeat and almost, dare I say, fun. Listen on Myspace

Fantastic Magic - Witch Choir
Nathan from Wavves with a few more folks playing folky lo-fi stuff before Wavves.

Kylesa - Time Will Fuse It's Worth (2006)

On a recent post I made I got a request to look out for their '09 release (due out March 17th, and I will definitely keep my eyes open for it for you guys) and I had realized that I have never listened to them despite them getting recommended to me on occasion. It reminds me of Mastodon (one of my favorite bands and one of the best metal bands out there right now) mixed with sludge and some awesome post-hardcore sounding segments. The dudes and gal (yes, there is a girl in this band, fuck yes) in the band come from the anarchocrust scene which means they have some awesome political lyrics. They also have two awesome drummers. God, as I speak I feel as thought I am listening to A Silver Mt. Zion. Now I feel like I am listening to some psychedelic rock. Now I feel like I am rocking out hard to this sludgy riff. Now I am in fucking love.
EDIT: Fall in love.

Orchidectomy - Demo 2005

I found out about this band, actually, in 2005. However, back then I only liked metal that had a breakdown that I could karate kick to ALL THE TIME. Thus, they quickly got deleted being too brutal for my little punk self. Anyway, recently I asked my friend if he could send it to me again. He did, and I am digging it a lot. They are brutal death metal in every sense and have been praised by the likes of Wormed, whom they are heavily influenced by. I heard they have had an album in post-production hiatus and it was flying around somewhere in the bowels of the internet. I found it finally and the recording quality is not so good. Upon further inspection I found out that the version flying around right now is unmastered. I am going to wait patiently for the mastered one. I also heard they broke up from some dude's shout on last.fm. The band's name is the scientific term for castration.

Oh yeah, their drummer slays and he is 16 at the time of this recording.

I would gladly show you where to buy it if I knew of a link that existed.

Dark Dark Dark - The Snow Magic (2008)

Dark Dark Dark is a lovely little gypsy folk band. And I really only say gypsy folk because they use a lot of accordion. They're from Minnesota. There's also banjo. They sound a bit like a wonderful group of musicians called Bowerbirds.

The label doesn't want you to download the album from here. Sorry!

School of Seven Bells - Alpinisms (2008)

SVIIB is made up of members of Secret Machines and On!Air!Library!. It's pretty, shimmery, ethereal pop music. Dream pop or whatever.

Here We Go Magic - Here We Go Magic (2009)

An interesting debut from a new band from Brooklyn. The first four songs are catchylofipoppy songs, three of the next four are strange ambient noise tracks, and the last is an odd, bluesy piano ballad. The first four tracks are excellent, especially "Tunnelvision," - download this for them.

Mouth of the Architect - The Ties That Blind (2006)

These guys toured with These Arms Are Snakes to support this album. It features Brent Hinds of Mastodon to do vocals on a track and the bass riffs of Brian Cook of Botch, Russian Circles, and These Arms Are Snakes. It's some pretty good sludge. Their wiki claims them to be influenced by Pelican, Cult of Luna, Isis, and Neurosis.

Cattle Decapitation

Humanure (2004)

Karma.Bloody.Karma (2006)

Cattle Decapitation is a deathgrind band whose lyrics, funnily enough, focus on animal rights and the protest of the human consumption of animals. They are pretty awesome, in my opinion. Karma.Bloody.Karma is my favorite of the two, but both are good recordings. Also, Joey Karam of The Locust makes a guest appearance on the track "Total Gore?" on Karma.Bloody.Karma.
