The Black Dahlia Murder
Buy
This is my favorite metal band, and one of my favorite bands in general. They are usually considered melodic death metal, and I see many influences from older thrash bands, black metal bands, and grind bands. Their lyrics focus on things like horror, zombies, monsters, etc. they all love horror movies so that obviously plays through. Start off with Nocturnal, their newest, it is probably their best release and is most appealing upon a first listen. Not to say each other recording doesn't kick ass, though...

p.s. the wikipedia entry on hipster is hilarious.
this is awful.
i was under the impression this was a good blog, but clearly i was mistaken.
Aww, I am sorry to have misled you.
I feel that Unhallowed is by far their best release. Nocturnal was better than Miasma for sure...but I don't think it fully overtook Unhallowed...IMO ;)
Aw, Richard, I love that you actually read this blog. <3
Unhallowed is most definitely the shit. I don't know, though, I just love Nocturnal a lot. It feels the most focused to me.
Yeah, I suppose I can see where you're coming from, I thought Nocturnal was terrific and a bit of return to form for them after Miasma, which I thought was good but lacked some of the catchier aspects they incorporated so seemlessly in Unhallowed. I suppose it doesn't hurt that I got into them when Unhallowed came out...maybe a bit of tilt for my nostalgia. heh.
oh...and yes Tara, I check it occasionally...haha
I should tell Jon you guys posted that War on Drugs album up here! haha
